A lot of source material combine Inanna with Ishtar. The problem with this, is that the origin deity looses its original identity. New and emerging cultures will add their own myths and spin to the stories.

In the case of Inanna, keep in mind that our origin story source materials derive from Sumerian culture, whose language is considered Language isolate. Later, Ishtar emerges under Akkadian culture who is Semitic. These differences create major or minor changes that may get over looked in our studies of their origin stories.
