Shapash, also known as Shapsh, Shapshu or Shemesh, was the Canaanite goddess of the Sun and fate. She was an important figure within the Ugaritic Baal Cycle, where she was in favour of crowing Baal-Hadad as the King of the Gods, and her worship is forbidden within Israel during the times of King Josiah.
